About 35 Airstreams camped at Jackson Rancheria for the 2014 Nothern California installation rally. Plans were made for about 60 people at the banquet where Brian will be sworn to leadership duty for 2015.
There was time for many in the group to tour the William Paugh house in Jackson, CA. It is a well preserved example of a Gothic Revival house of a style popular in the 1840s and 1850s. It was built in the late 1850s by Charles Parish for his financee’. However, tragedy took her life in a horse accident prior to the marriage and Mr. Parish never moved into the house. Instead, the house was placed in a lottery where approximately 8,000 tickets were sold for $1 statewide. The winner was the Amador County Sheriff, Dr. William Paugh.

Ready for Region 12 Rally
The NorCal Airstream group had a large turnout for the rally at Pioneer RV Park near Quincy, CA. The northern Sierra Mountains are always a popular destination for the summer rallies.
The group went to the Butterfly Valley Botanical Area where many California Pitcher Plants were showing their cobra heads and looking hungry. The Butterfly Valley Botanical Area is designated a protected botanical area just north of Quincy, CA. It is at an elevation under 3,800 feet near the Mt. Hough Ranger district in the Plumas National Forest. It is home of the rare carnivorous plant, Darlingtonia Californica, which grows only in scattered cold-water bog habitats.
The NorCal Airstream rally group stopped for a picnic lunch and samples at The Brewing Lair of the Lost Sierra, which is a mountain beer brewery near Blairsden, CA. There were picnic lunches with beer samples. This is a 15-barrel brewery for ales (or whatever ales you). They produce tasty ales with interesting names like Ambush IPA, Deep Cover, Espionage IPA and Odd Job Ale. June 2014. Photos by Hedda and Tom S.
